CLASS DESCRIPTIONS

  • Restorative

    • Restorative classes are designed to be soothing to the nervous system. In this practice, the poses are passive and supported by using bolsters, blankets, blocks, etc. These soothing and deeply relaxing poses encourage understanding of the internal state, a more relaxed body, and balanced state of mind. Restorative classes are suitable for all levels, and with regular practice have profound benefit on our entire mind/body system, by teaching us to relax and reflect.

Level 1 classes are designed for beginning students, and those who desire to learn foundational principles.  We recommend these classes to all new students for learning the basics, and for building a safe and sustainable practice.

Level 2-3 classes are for the advancing student, who has a consistent yoga practice.  This is a challenging class where we will explore arm balances and inversions regularly.  We recommend at least 1 year of regular practice before joining this class.

Advanced classes are for those who have practiced with consistency the following poses: Salamba Sarvangasana, Salamba Sirsasana, Urdhva Dhanurasana, and arm balances and pranayama.  This is a very challenging class, and is recommended for serious committed students who have a solid understanding of alignment, inversion and breath work.

  • Yoga on the Inside

    • With a strong focus on structural alignment, this practice gives students the tools to take healing into their own hands, and watch as their efforts bring deep change to all layers of their beings– physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual.
Props are often used to explore new ways of accessing familiar poses and to tailor each pose to the unique anatomy of the student.
As a student, you will be encouraged to turn your attention inwards during the practice, learning how to bring yourself into a more meditative state even in the face of challenge.
