Shadow Yoga is a Hatha Yoga system developed by Sundernath (Shandor Remete) and Emma Balnaves, based on a lifetime of research and practice of the ancient art and science of Hatha yoga. Beginning with the fixed forms, or Prelude activity, Shadow Yoga is taught progressively, in a step by step manner, where one gains theoretical and practical understanding of each level before being introduced to the next level. In this traditional way of learning, studying and practicing Hatha Yoga, students who persevere, and cultivate a disciplined practice, patience and persistence, real growth, transformation, and embodiment is achieved.

Foundations of Shadow Yoga
This course gives students an introduction to Shadow Yoga practice, theory and principles, and teaches one to cultivate self practice from the beginner level. The joint mobilization, warm up exercises, basic stances and squats, and charanas (dynamic whole body movements which integrate the limbs with the spine) will be introduced and students will get a sense of the intelligence and potential built into the Shadow Yoga preludes to come.

*Please note: All students must begin with Foundations, and complete 4 classes to progress to the first prelude course (Balakrama or Chaya). Pre-register online for each class you wish to attend.
It is not necessary to attend 4 consecutive classes. Foundations will be offered on most Sundays through the end of 2024, not all Sundays - please check online schedule, and pre-register.

Laura Mullin has been practicing and teaching Hatha yoga for over 25 years. She has studied yoga and pranayama with Sri Anurada Tarafdar, who initiated her in Shakti Rhythmic Breathing, and studied meditation and Kundalini Maha Yoga with Sri Anandi Ma and Dileepji at the Dhyan Yoga Center (www.dyc.org). Currently Laura is an apprentice studying with Mark Horner and Judy Yu (www.horneryoga.com), and teaching the Shadow Yoga method. She has realized many profound lessons as a Shadow Yoga practitioner, and feels it is an honor to be able to share this amazing practice and path. Laura offers Shadow Yoga Foundations and Prelude courses, workshops and immersions, private tutoring, practitioner training and mentorships for advancing students, as well as ongoing education for teachers. As a lifelong Hatha Yogini, gardener, and pianist Laura enjoys creating beauty and art, and finds spending time with nature, her animals, friends and family as most fulfilling. She has studied complementary paths in Ayurveda, as well as natural health and healing, and offers consultations to heal body/mind with Yoga and natural methods.
